Summer holiday in Scheffau
Situated directly on the south west side of the mighty Wilder Kaiser, Scheffau is a popular starting point for hikes into the natural conservation area of the Kaiser mountains. Mountaineers and climbers also find this an ideal starting point for a tour, no other village being so near to the peaks. On the other side of the valley the gondola is the leisurely way up the Brandstadl to the KaiserWelt, a forest full of adventure.
In the KaiserWelt on the Brandstadl at the village of Scheffau, a cheery Emperor of Games invites all his little subjects in to his castle and the unique realm where they can romp and play to their heart's content.
In the midst of the Wilder Kaiser nature conservation area, some four kilometres above the town of Scheffau, at an altitude of 883 metres, the loveliest and cleanest mountain lake in Tirol - Lake Hintersteinersee – lies hidden.
The "Bergdoktor" (Mountain Medic) has long been at home at the Wilder Kaiser. And that's not just in the TV series; in the meantime, Hans Sigl who plays Dr. Martin Gruber has made Ellmau in Tirol his second home.
The distinctive rocky pinnacles of the Wilder Kaiser mountains are the symbol of the Wilder Kaiser region in Tyrol. Hiking paths lead through mountain forests, then alpine meadows and lastly through scree fields interspersed with mountain pine to the base of steep rock faces and deep, narrow passages in the rock.
There is something for everyone on a Summer holiday in the Wilder Kaiser region. The area is recognised for its beautiful natural bathing lakes, wonderful children’s play areas and adventure activities such as paragliding, hot air ballooning and climbing.
